For this project, my students had a number of ways to demonstrate understanding. Students experimented with Instagram, we looked at creating websites (my kids shied away from that one because is was difficult for them), we recorded some video and the kids edited what they had using the Flip software (easy and a great simple introduction). I learned how to incorporate google classroom, which the kids thought was cool.
I found that we needed far more time than we had planned on, and that part of that time needs to be devoted to revisions after a peer, class or teacher review. Although my students stayed safe by doing what they were more comfortable with and what seemed easier to them, it was a good introduction for many of them.

Dallan Anderson in Millard School District had his students in Science do experiments with mealworms. Instead of a traditional paper or lab report, students reported their findings with a Google Slides presentation. Below are two examples of his students work.
These presentations were created by Brad Harris' 5th Grade Class at Belknap Elementary in Beaver County. Students learned how to put the Google Slides presentation together by using the technology have in class, adding information that they were able to find on the Internet, and by inserting pictures that they were able to find and enjoy.
Angie Frabasilio of our Regional EdTech PLC has submitted her project, Extreme Word Problems (Google Slides link) that she has done with her students from Sunrise Ridge Intermediate School in Washington County School District. This lesson/project aligns with Utah/Common Core Math 7 EE, standards a and b.
The lesson is a cross between language arts and math. Students create a Google Slides presentation of an extreme word problem. The thought behind this lesson is that we see shortened math problems in math textbooks without the background behind it. Such as:
Allie gets paid $21 a day plus $2 per pair of jeans she inspects. How many pairs of pants does she have to inspect to earn $33?
Which can be shortened to 2x+21=33 or lengthened to a three page story.
Students make up the long, medium and short (equation) in a Google Slides presentation with illustrations, then share it. It also ties into - Math7.EE.a/b expressing real world events as an algebraic expression or equation.
